Rahul Gandhi Bids Farewell to 20-Year Residence at Tughlaq Lane after being Disqualified from serving as a Wayanad MP

Rahul Gandhi: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, left his official residence on Saturday, nearly a month after he was expelled from the Lok Sabha after being found guilty of defaming the Modi family. His possessions have reportedly already been moved from his official apartment to his mother Sonia Gandhi’s home at 10 Janpath, according to news agency PTI. Gandhi will present the Lok Sabha secretariat with the bungalow at 12 Tughlaq Lane today, according to the news agency’s sources.

Rahul Gandhi was already ordered to leave the government house assigned to him by April 22 after being removed from his position as Wayanad MP following his conviction in the “Modi surname” remark case by a Surat court. The former Congress President moved his office and a few personal items from the house to his mother Sonia Gandhi’s official residence on April 14, according to reports.

Rahul Gandhi received a notice to leave the premises from the Lok Sabha Secretariat

In the bungalow, Rahul Gandhi has resided for almost 20 years. According to PTI sources, he moved in with his mother and Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi at her 10, Janpath apartment after moving his office. Gandhi received a notice to leave the premises by April 22 from the Lok Sabha Secretariat one day after being disqualified. Gandhi was disqualified on March 23 after being found guilty of criminal defamation and given a two-year sentence. In the sessions court in Surat, he had contested the magisterial court judgement, which had denied his request to have the conviction overturned.
