However, what has caught the attention of many is his new look! The young politician has ditched his signature beard, which he had grown out during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, and got a fresh haircut. With this makeover, Rahul Gandhi is all set to make a bold statement and leave a lasting impression on his audience in the UK.
Rahul Gandhi delivers lecture at Cambridge Uni.
Rahul Gandhi, as a visiting fellow, delivered an insightful lecture at Cambridge University on ‘Learning to Listen in the 21st Century’. The Wayanad MP touched upon three crucial topics, including his experience during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the significance of global conversations and the need for reconciling differing ideologies.
Besides his lecture, Rahul Gandhi’s week-long tour of England includes several engagements, including interactions with the Indian diaspora in London on March 5 and members of the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC). As per sources, the Congress leader is also scheduled to have a series of meetings with business community members. With his packed schedule, Rahul Gandhi seems to be making a significant impact and creating a buzz across the UK.
Rahul Gandhi and criticism for beard
The image of Rahul Gandhi had undergone a significant change since September 2022, when he kickstarted the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari to its conclusion in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar on January 30. However, his physical transformation during the Yatra was not well-received by some opposition leaders, with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma comparing him to Saddam Hussein. Congress had retaliated, stating that such comments were unwarranted, and reminded BJP about their leader’s beard.
While Rahul Gandhi’s makeover was a subject of criticism, it was also seen as an attempt to connect with the masses during his travels.
