Rahul Gandhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Saturday paid homage to the Pulwama martyrs during his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir. His tributes came day after senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh attacked the Centre and sought for proof of the 2016 Balakot surgical strike and a report on the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.
The official Twitter handle of Congress tweeted photos of Rahul Gandhi paying floral tribute to 40 jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), who were martyred during Pulwama attack. “Our tribute to the soil, which has in it the blood of the brave martyrs of Pulwama attack. Today during Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi paid homage to the brave soldiers who were martyred in Pulwama attack,” the Congress said in a tweet.
Launching a scathing attack at the Central government, Digivijay Singh had questioned the surgical strikes on Monday. This sparked a heated response from the BJP, which claimed the opposition party was misguided by its “hate” for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and had “insulted” the armed services.
“They talk of surgical strikes. They claim to have killed so many people, but no proof is given. They are ruling by peddling a bundle of lies,” the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, who has often courted controversy with his comments, said.
