Rahul Gandhi: Congress MP and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has finally come out with an all-guns-blazing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the wake of a horrific incident of violence in Madhya Pradesh. In a post that has gone up on X recently, Rahul Gandhi lashed out at the brutal assault on two army personnel and the rape of the female companion as an indictment of ‘societal and governmental failure’.
Rahul Gandhi Condemns Violence and Rape in Madhya Pradesh
Rahul Gandhi Said in his Tweet that, “The violence against two army men and the rape of their female colleague in Madhya Pradesh is enough to shame the entire society. The law and order situation in BJP ruled states is almost non-existent – and the negative attitude of the BJP government towards the day-to-day increasing crimes against women is extremely worrying.”
He added, “This impudence of the criminals is the result of the complete failure of the administration and the unsafe environment created due to this is a restriction on the freedom and aspirations of India’s daughters. Both the society and the government should be ashamed and seriously think – how long will they turn a blind eye to the responsibility of protecting half the population of the country!.”
Delayed Justice and Police Inaction
Rahul Gandhi’s remarks were followed by similar views from the Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari, who escalated the attack on the BJP government. Patwari termed the situation in the state “jungle raj,” saying that if even army officers are not safe, the condition of ordinary citizens can be imagined. He also came down heavily on the police for delaying action in the case and accused Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who holds additional charge as the Home Minister, of failure to protect the city of Indore, which he said had turned into a “city of crime.”
