Following this, he completed his MPhil in Philosophy at Trinity College, Cambridge University, in 1995, after passing the Bachelor of Arts test at Howard University, Florida, in 1994. Rahul returned to India after completing his MPhil and began making news in the local press.

He joined the Congress prior to the 2004 Lok Sabha elections and started participating actively in the party. With the motto “India Shining,” the National Democratic Alliance, led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was hoping to retake power at this period. Rahul was also spotted traveling to the Amethi parliamentary constituency with his sister Priyanka.

Success in Amethi

Rahul Gandhi was finally declared a candidate by the Congress from Amethi, ending all rumors, and he was elected to the Indian Parliament in 2004 after winning the Lok Sabha elections. He then triumphed over Amethi in 2009 and 2014. But in 2019, he lost to Smriti Irani, the BJP’s then-candidate, in Amethi, and he was elected to the Keralan Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency.

Regarding the 2024 Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi ran for office in his customary seats of Rae Bareli and Wayanad and won both. Following this, he opted to represent Rae Bareli and resigned from Wayanad in accordance with the law. Rahul Gandhi will thus serve as the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha representative from 2024 to 2029 in this scenario.
