Rahul Gandhi’s Visit to Kedarnath Amidst Election Hustle Raises Political and Spiritual Questions

Rahul Gandhi

In the midst of the busy assembly elections in five states, Congress’s former national president Rahul Gandhi will be staying at Baba Kedarnath’s sanctuary for three days. At a time when election campaigns are in full swing, Rahul’s three-day private spiritual journey to Kedarnath holds political significance. This visit is seen in connection with Congress’s softer Hindutva strategy, as the party relies on its attractive election promises in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram.

Rahul Ghandi to stay Kedarnath for three days:

With the elections in full swing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aggressive campaign and BJP’s strong stance on Hindutva have compelled Congress leadership to reconsider its strategy. This marks the first time Rahul Gandhi will be staying in Kedarnath for three days. He had previously undertaken a pilgrimage on foot to Kedarnath in 2015.

On November 14, the gates of Gangotri will close, followed by Yamunotri on November 15, and Kedarnath on the same date. Finally, the gates of Badrinath Dham will close on November 18. This year, more than 52 lakh pilgrims have visited the Char Dham pilgrimage sites, a record-breaking number. In 2022, around 46 lakh people had visited the Char Dham.

52,17,177 pilgrims have already visited all four temples:

By November 1, a total of 52,17,177 pilgrims have already visited all four temples. The highest number of visitors usually come for Baba Kedarnath Dham, with nearly 17 lakh pilgrims having visited it.
