Rain lashes several cities, showers likely in Rajasthan, UP; waterlogging woes in Delhi, Bengaluru

Rain lashes cities: While the north is battling in the sweltering heat, rains and thundershowers brought some respite. But rains also brought along problems of heavy waterlogging and traffic. On the other side, Bengaluru too is facing waterlogging as several areas remained submerged following rains.

On Tuesday and the wee hours of Wednesday, rains lashed parts of the national capital even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast light-to-moderate intensity rain over entire Delhi and adjoining areas.

Waterlogging, traffic woes

Apart from some relief from the heat, the showers brought heavy waterlogging and traffic with them. Commuters battled severe waterlog and traffic congestion in both Delhi and Bengaluru on Tuesday.

“Thunderstorm/ Duststorm with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speed of 40-60 km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi ( Safdarjung, Lodi Road, IGI Airport), NCR ( Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Bahadurgarh, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh)Gohana, Meham, Sonipat, Tosham, Rohtak, Kharkhoda, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Jhajjar, Loharu, Farukhnagar, Kosali, Mahendargarh, Sohana, Rewari, Palwal, Narnaul, Bawal, Nuh (Haryana),” said a post on the IMD’s official Twitter handle.

Rain forecast in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan

IMD further added that some parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan will also receive light-to-moderate intensity rainfall over the next couple of hours.

“Indirapuram, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh) Gohana, Meham, Sonipat, Tosham, Rohtak, Kharkhoda, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Jhajjar, Loharu, Farukhnagar, Kosali, Mahendargarh, Sohana, Rewari, Palwal, Narnaul, Bawal, Nuh (Haryana) Baraut, Bagpat (U.P.) Pilani, Bhiwari, Tizara, Khairthal (Rajasthan) during next 2 hours.,” the IMD added.

IMD stated the maximum temperature is expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 21 degree Celsius in Delhi on Wednesday.
