Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi: According to police sources, a step-by-step account of the plot to assassinate Karni Sena chief and Rajput leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi has been revealed for the first time. On December 5, while Gogamedi was at his Jaipur home with four men, two of the men abruptly got up from their chairs and shot him. The incident was captured on camera.
Rajasthani Gangster’s Global Ties
According to sources, Rajasthani gangster Rohit Godara, who is thought to be residing in Canada and is closely connected to the gangs led by Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar, who are suspected of being responsible for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala last year, was the mastermind behind the plot to assassinate the Rajput leader.
Criminal Chain of Command
According to sources, Godara gave his lieutenant, Virendra Charan, the assignment to kill Gogamedi and hire a shooter. While serving time in a rape case in Ajmer, Rajasthan, Charan and Godara crossed paths in a jail. According to sources, Godara informed investigators that Gogamedi had played a key role in the rape case against him, and as retaliation, he intended to exact revenge.
Exploiting Godara’s Fury
Godara’s rage was quickly exploited by Charan, who then got him ready to kill Gogamedi. Nitin Fauji, the second shooter, was put in jail by Charan. According to sources, Fauji wanted to relocate overseas, so he asked Charan for advice. Charan promised to help after the “job” was finished. Then, according to sources, both gunmen decided to kill Gogamedi and stayed in close contact with Charan both before and after the killing.
Underground Transaction
Through his network, Charan was able to send the guns to both of the Jaipur shooters. According to sources, the two later buried the weapons close to a hotel in the city. The guns are being recovered by the police. A property dispute between Godara and Gogimedi had surfaced during the preliminary investigation. Investigations are also being conducted on the caste equation.
BJP’s Murder Allegations
Following the BJP‘s shocking murder of the Rajput leader, which was captured on CCTV, the state of Rajasthan, which is undergoing a regime transition, saw widespread protests after the ruling Congress party lost control of the state in the most recent assembly elections. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), an anti-terror organisation, was asked to look into the murder by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which came to power following the recently held assembly election but has not yet installed a Chief Minister in the state.
