Rajnath Singh dedicates new infrastructure near LAC

The central government has built many important structures like heli pads, roads, bridges to further strengthen its hold on the China border. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh today inaugurated 75 projects constructed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) at a function held on the Darbuk-Shyok-Daulat Beg Oldi road (DS-DBO) in Ladakh.

It is known that Darbuk-Shyok-Daulat Beg Oldie Road (DS-DBO) was a major reason for the military standoff between India and China in 2020. The Chinese Army had opposed the construction of this road, because through this the Indian Army could reach the border immediately.

45 bridges, 27 roads, two helipads built

The 75 projects include 45 bridges, 27 roads, two helipads and a carbon neutral habitat. Most of these projects will boost infrastructure and provide better access for quick response to the enemy along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

According to the Defense Ministry, these projects are spread over six states and two union territories. Of these, 20 are in Jammu and Kashmir, 18 in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, 5 in Uttarakhand and 14 in other border states of Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.

“These strategically important projects have been constructed by BRO in record time at a total cost of Rs 2,180 crore,” the Defense Ministry said.

Shyok bridge built at a height of 14 thousand feet

The Defense Ministry said the highlight of the event was the inauguration of the 120-metre-long Class 70 Shyok Setu at an altitude of 14,000 feet on the D-S-DBO road. The bridge will have strategic importance as it will facilitate logistics movement for the armed forces. In addition, one helipad each at Hanle and Thakung in eastern Ladakh will enhance the capabilities of the Indian Air Force in the region.

The Defense Ministry said that BRO’s first carbon neutral habitat has also been inaugurated at Henle in Ladakh at an altitude of 19,000 feet for its employees.

Carbon Neutral Habitat Made in Ladakh

The ministry said that the BRO has made efforts towards allowing Ladakh to become the country’s first carbon neutral union territory. The specialty of this Habitat complex is that there will be accommodation for 57 personnel and arrangements for their comfort even in the harsh winter. With this, BRO will be able to work comfortably even during winters.
