Republic Day 2023: This year, Indian Army will showcase a parade of solely domestically-produced military systems, in support of the national government’s “Make In India” initiative. On display will be a range of formidable Indian-made weapons and vehicles, such as the MBT Arjun, Nag anti-tank guided missiles, K-9 Vajra howitzers, Akash air defence missiles, BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, and Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicles.

Only Made-in-India equipment this year

All equipment and ammunition featured during the parade, including the recently-inducted LCH Prachand and the 21 Gun Salute using 105 mm Indian Field Guns, will exhibit the strength of Indian self-sufficiency in defence.

Major General Bhavnish Kumar remarked that this year’s Republic Day parade will feature a number of indigenous pieces of equipment as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. He said that under “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” the army will only employ equipment made in India.

He also stated,””105 mm Indian field gun will give 21 gun salute, mechanised Columns will have armour core MBT Arjun, mechanised infantry’s BMP 2 and Nag Missile system will show its might.” In a five-plane “Arrow” configuration, the Prachand Formation is expected to include of one LCH in the lead, two Apache Helicopters, and two ALH MK-IV aircraft in echelon.

Egypt president will be the chief guest

In the meanwhile, ahead of Republic Day, the Indian army displayed ‘Made in India’ weaponry on Tuesday at India Gate. The president of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, will be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations in 2023. The fact that Al-Sisi will be the premier guest at India’s celebration of its 75th year of diplomatic relations adds further significance to his visit here.
