Republic Day 2023: Like every year, this year too millions of people across the country will watch the Republic Day parade on Thursday. The parade, which will begin at 10 am, will be broadcast live on Doordarshan and Sansad TV. Radio listeners too will hear it live.
There is lot of enthusiasm and excitement as the country celebrates its 74th Republic Day. President Draupadi Murmu will unfurl the national flag on Kartavaya Path, which was recently unveiled. Kartavaya Path was formerly known as Rajpath.
Jan-Bhagidari theme
Every year India displays with pride, its rich tradition, cultural heritage, and spectacle of nation’s progress and achievements. This year’s Republic Day celebration is themed around ‘Jan-Bhagidari’ (participation of people)’.
Egypt President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi is the chief guest of the event. A 120-member Egyptian contingent will also participate in the parade. The Republic Day celebration is scheduled to begin at 7:30 am, and the unfurling of flag will be followed by the National Anthem.
The parade will begin at 10 am which will be broadcast live on state-run channels – Doordarshan and Sansad TV. Radio listeners will be able to hear it live too. The parade will begin from Vijay Chowk and move towards Red Fort via Kartavaya Path, C-Hexagon, roundabout statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhash Marg.
As per the tradition, President Murmu will address the nation on the evening of January 25, and PM Modi will extend his greetings to the nations on the morning of January 26.
All the three wings of the Indian defence forces – Army, Navy, and Air Force – will march alongside their regiments and bands will perform in the parade followed by the presentation of state tableaux displaying their culture.

Republic Day Parade rehearsal, the parade, beating the retreat ceremony are some of the events. Though there is no entry fee for the Beating the Retreat ceremony, one can buy tickets for the January 26 parade online. The price of tickets is ₹20, 100, and 500 for different events.
The ministry of defence has set up an online portal www.aamantran.mod.gov.in for the Republic Day parade. One has to create an account to buy the ticket. The tickets can be booked between 10am and 12:30pm and 2pm and 4:30pm till January 24.
Republic Day is celebrated to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution. The Indian Constitution was adopted on January 26, 1950.
