Mohan Bhagwat: On Friday, Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), controversially asserted that India is a “Hindu Rashtra,” stating that this fact remains true regardless of whether some people acknowledge it or not.
What did Mohan Bhagwat say?
Mohan Bhagwat made these remarks during the inauguration ceremony of the new office of Shri Narkesari Prakashan Limited, the publisher of RSS’s Marathi daily Tarun Bharat. He further added that a certain segment of people may not accept this truth due to self-serving reasons. Addressing media, he said “It is a Hindu nation and seizable people accept it. However, a few people do not understand it yet while a section even knows it but refuses to say it.”
Continuing further, he said, “It is a Hindu land with Hindu culture where everyone has a bond.”During the ceremony, which was also attended by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, he emphasised the significant role of the media and stressed the importance of disseminating “proper ideas.” He said, “The media must work to raise the social consciousness. The media are expected to bring positivity to the thoughts of the citizens and should aim to eliminate negativity. Thoughts are expected to get priority over business.’
Mohan Bhagwat emphasises on Swadeshi values
Devendra Fadnavis mentioned technological advancements and noted that those who do not embrace them will lag behind. He said, “This should not change the basic ideological core of the media.” Bhagwat emphasized the importance of environmental conservation, as well as the promotion of “Swadeshi” (indigenous), family values, and discipline.
