Andimuthu Raja: A Raja, a minister and MP for the DMK, stated on Thursday that Sanatana dharma should be equated to diseases that carry societal stigma, such as leprosy and HIV, in light of the ongoing issue surrounding Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin‘s comments on Sanatana dharma. Raja further said, “Udhayanidhi’s take on Sanatana dharma was soft.”
A Raja’s Controversial Remarks on Sanatana Dharma
Speaking at a public event, A Raja said, “Sanatana and Vishwakarma Yojana are not different, they are the same. Udhayanidhi Stalin was soft in comparing and claiming that it should be eradicated like malaria and dengue.” “But these diseases don’t have a social stigma. To be honest, leprosy was seen as disgusting and so was HIV.” “So, we need to see this as a disease ridden with social plights like HIV and leprosy,” the DMK MP said. “Bring anybody, I’m ready to debate on Sanatana dharma, “A Raja said, adding, “I don’t mind even if it is 10 lakh or 1 crore. Let them carry any sort of weapons, I’ll come and debate with Periyar and Ambedkar books in Delhi.” A Raja had stated on Wednesday that he was ready to respond to questions from all cabinet members if the prime minister called a meeting. “I am prepared to give answers for all cabinet ministers if the Prime Minister convenes the meeting and let them permit me. I will explain which one is ‘Sanatana dharma’ thereafter you decide,” A Raja had told reporters.
BJP’s Accusations of Genocide
Udhayanidhi Stalin asserted earlier this month that Sanatana Dharma is opposed to social justice and equality and should be eliminated. He compared Sanatana Dharma to coronavirus, malaria, and fever brought on by the dengue virus and mosquitoes, saying that these things shouldn’t be opposed—instead, they should be exterminated. Amit Malviya, head of the BJP‘s IT department, claimed the DMK politician had called for the “genocide” of 80% of the people, who practise Sanatana Dharma, in response to his words, which had caused anger. Udhayanidhi denied that charge. According to Udhayanidhi, Chief Minister MK Stalin‘s son, the word “Sanatana” itself is derived from Sanskrit. “What is the meaning of Sanatana? It is eternal, that is, it cannot be changed; no one could pose any question and that is the meaning.” He claimed that Sanatana segregated people according to caste.
