Indian passport: In a bid to streamline the passport issuance process, the external affairs ministry has developed a new app called ‘mPassport Police App’, which is being rolled out in New Delhi. The app, developed by the consular, passport, and visa division of the ministry, is expected to reduce the time for police verification of passport applicants to five days, cutting the current time of 15 days by two-thirds. This will also help reduce complaints about the misuse of the verification process and make it more transparent.
