SC: Supreme Court has now offered relief to Nupur Sharma as she requested to club all the police cases filed against her so that she does not have to defend herself across India.
Over controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad, Nupur Sharma was suspended from the BJP in June of her spokesperson post. Her remarks triggered nationwide protests from the people belonging to the Muslim community. And, some complaints were also registered by the Gulf countries.
First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed in multiple states against her. She then asked the Supreme Court to collate them. The judges, agreeing to that, said they have considered death threats to her.
At a hearing on July 1, two Supreme Court judges held that Sharma was “single-handedly responsible” for the then ongoing violence that erupted after her controversial remarks over Prophet Muhammad in a news channel debate.
Today, the SC said that all FIRs against Ex BJP Spokesperson will be clubbed together and handed over to the Delhi Police. On the same day (July 1), Nupur requested Supreme Court to club together all the complaints filed against her across the nation and transfer them to Delhi as she and her family would face a security threat if she goes to different states for court hearings.
