Senior Congress leader M. Satyanarayana Rao passes away at 87

Veteran Congress leader and former Andhra Pradesh Minister M. Satyanarayana Rao passed away on Tuesday at a hospital. He was 87/

MSR had tested positive for covid-19 and was admitted to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences(NIMS) on Sunday. He was kept on ventilator after his condition deteriorated early morning today. He breathed his last at 3:45 am on Tuesday, as per the family.

MSR, who hailed from Vedira village of Karimnagar district, served as a member of parliament for three years. He played a crucial role in Telangana movement in 1969. Besides being an All India Congress Committee general secretary during Indira Gandhi’s stewardship, he also headed the Congress party in undivided Andhra Pradesh between 2000 and 2004.

He also served in the Y.S. Rajashekhar Reddy cabinet from 2004 to 2007 and as Chairman of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) from 2007.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also expressed grief over the death of Satyanarayana Rao and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.
