Few more militants were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. With this, the number of terrorists killed in the encounter has increased to three. These terrorists were members of the Al Badar organization. An encounter between security forces and militants took place at Hadipura in Shopian district in south Kashmir. A terrorist was killed in it on Saturday.
A police officer said two more militants were killed in the operation in Hadipura. Police said that one of the slain militants had recently joined the militant organization and the security forces appealed to him to surrender.
A police officer said that in the meantime, the encounter started in Anantnag district as well. He said that after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists in Semthan of Bijbehra area of this district of South Kashmir, the security forces conducted a siege and search operation after which the encounter between the two sides started.
Earlier on Thursday, militants entered a mosque in Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir. The security forces had piled up 5 terrorists while saving the religious site. For the first time in more than 20 years, five terrorists were killed in this turbulent city of South Kashmir. This was the first time that terrorists were surrounded inside the mosque in Shopian. The last major encounter in Shopian was in the late 1990s when four terrorists were killed.
