The judicial custody of Aftab Amin Poonawalla, accused in the Shraddha murder case, has been extended once again. Delhi’s Saket Court has extended the judicial custody of Aftab Poonawalla for the next 14 days. Aftab has demanded some law books for studies. The court has also directed the authorities to provide him warm clothes.
Aftab’s 4-day judicial custody was ending today itself, with which the court has extended it for another 14 days. Aftab had filed an application in the Saket court through his lawyer. The application demanded the release of the credit cards and debit cards seized by the police.
It was said in the application that Aftab was suffering from severe cold inside the jail and did not have enough clothes. It said that there was an urgent need of money to buy warm clothes along with everyday items. It was stated in the application that the accused have some money in their bank accounts and the debit cards/credit cards of the accused are lying with the police officials.
Big disclosure in DNA report
Earlier on January 4, the DNA report made a big disclosure in the case. The DNA report revealed that the hair and bone recovered by the police during investigation belonged to the deceased Shraddha. The Delhi Police said that the mitochondrial DNA report of the samples matched with the DNA of the victim’s father and brother. The samples were sent to the Center for DNA Fingerprinting Diagnostics in Hyderabad for testing.
Shraddha’s dead body was cut into 35 pieces
Significantly, 28-year-old Aftab Amin Poonawalla had killed his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar, cut her body into 35 pieces and dumped them in different parts of the national capital. Poonawalla kept the body parts in a 300-litre fridge before disposing them in different parts of the city. Poonawalla was arrested on 12 November.
