Prajwal Revanna: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah questioned the person who granted accused Prajwal Revanna a visa to travel overseas on Wednesday, targeting the BJP over the lewd video issue in Hassan district. He also took aim at Union Minister Amit Shah, questioning why the accused in the sex scandal case, Hassan JD(S) MP Prajwal, was given a ticket.
Allegations Against Prajwal Revanna
He claimed that Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and his grandson had plotted their international escape with the help of former prime minister and JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda. “Who gives passport and visa for travelling abroad? It’s the Centre. Can he go without the Centre’s knowledge? It was former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda who planned and sent him abroad,” the Chief Minister said.
Questioning the Allegations
“Prajwal pen drives case is not related to DCM DK Shivakumar. Why did Amit Shah give a ticket to the accused of a sex scandal?” he questioned. Additionally, Siddaramaiah wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him to order the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs to annul Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport and guarantee his return so he can face the law.
Formation of Special Investigation Team (SIT)
The Karnataka government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into allegations of a sex scandal involving Prajwal. It is thought that he fled to Germany soon after the state’s first round of elections, which concluded on April 26 and included Prajwal as the JD(S)-BJP combine’s candidate from Hassan. The chief minister of Karnataka stated that SIT will look into the matter transparently.
