RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das Encourages Voter Participation
Shaktikanta Das (RBI Governor) urged voters to turn out in large numbers to cast their ballots while speaking with reporters. “This is a right in our parliamentary democracy and everyone should exercise it,” Das declared after completing his ballot at a polling location close to his official south Mumbai residence.
“I want my India to be developed and strong and I kept these things in my mind when I went to cast my vote. All Indians should think what is right for them and vote,” Akshay Kumar said after casting his vote at a polling station in Juhu. As he waited in line to cast his ballot at a Bandra West polling place, Farkhan Akthar told news agency PTI, “My vote is for good governance, the government that looks after all the people, gives us a better city.”

Under strict security and preparations, voting for the fifth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections 2024 got underway on Monday morning across 49 parliamentary constituencies in six states and two Union Territories (UTs).
The Election Commission of India (ECI) reports that on Monday, voting will also be held concurrently for 35 assembly constituencies of the Odisha legislative assembly. ECI added that a total of 8.95 crore voters—of whom 4.69 crore are men, 4.26 crore are women, and 5,409 are voters of third gender—will select 695 candidates in the fifth round of voting.
