Snowfall Update: Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are predicted to receive significant snowfall. The plains in the hill stations did not receive enough snowfall until December, which left visitors a little let down. As a result, this season has mostly been dry when it comes to snowfall.
What is the update on snowfall ?
According to the latest snowfall update by the Indian Meteorological department, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh will get significant snowfall from 11th of January. R K Jenamani, Senior Scientist, India Meteorological Department said that “Heavy snowfall expected in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on January 11 and 12.”
The minimum temperature in most parts in the Valley fell rose, giving the population a small respite from the bitter cold. Meanwhile, several spots in Kashmir’s higher elevations had moderate snowfall. In some of the higher elevations, such as Gulmarg and the Sonamarg-Zojila axis, there was minor snowfall.
Low temperatures recorded last week
The Shimla Met Center has issued a yellow signal predicting rain and snowfall on January 11 and 12. The administration of the Lahaul-Spiti area has advised visitors not to travel to high elevations in light of this.
The lowest temperature in Srinagar on Saturday night was minus 0.1 degrees Celsius, up from minus 1.4 degrees the previous evening. However, Himachal Pradesh’s high peaks had intermittent light precipitation throughout the day.
