Snowfall Update: Over the upper areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad, there was some light rain and a few isolated spots of light snowfall yesterday. North Pakistan and the nearby Jammu and Kashmir area are now under a western disturbance.
Another Western Disturbance to effect soon
Up to January 10, the Western Himalayas may get mild to moderate rain and snow, with a few heavy periods. On the other hand, isolated rain and snow events might occur across Uttarakhand.
On January 10, the Western Himalayas are expected to be affected by another western disturbance. Gilgit Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will all receive significant snowfall as a result of the second Western Disturbance. First moderate to heavy snowfall will occur in Uttarakhand during this time.
Western disturbance intensity was quite low in November and December. Now, a series of western disturbances may approach the western Himalayas in January, delivering a lot of snow. Between January 14 and 17, there can be a pause of two to three days.
Another coldwave to impact North
Northwest and Central India will see very cold winds from the north, which will cause a considerable decrease in temperature and the start of another cold wave. Over the Western Himalayas, there is a risk of snow and rain beginning on January 18. However, we must wait to find out how intense the rain and snow will be at that time.
