International Yoga Day 2023: The lawns of the UN building in New York City are being prepared for International Yoga Day in 2023. The 9th edition of Yoga Day, which has been celebrated annually on June 21 since its debut edition in 2015, will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be on his first official state visit to the United States from June 20–24.

Additionally, this is the first time the primary Yoga Day ceremony has been held outside of the United States. Despite the fact that the day is observed all over the world, including at the UN, the main ceremony has been held in India. Prime Minister Modi has presided over celebrations in a predetermined city (Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Dehradun, Ranchi, and Mysore, respectively), while concurrent protests are taking place in other regions of the nation.

Yoga Day 2023 Adjusts to Pandemic Constraints

However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there were no large-scale meetings in 2020 or 2021. As a result, many performed “asanas” indoors. The timing of the ceremonies for Yoga Day 2023 on the lawns at the UN’s main building is 8am-9am EST (5:30–6:30pm IST), according to India’s Permanent Mission.
