Sudha Murty: At Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday evening, President Droupadi Murmu presented Padma awards to deserving recipients from various fields. Author and philanthropist Sudha Murty received the Padma Bhushan award for social work at the ceremony. Her daughter Akshata Murty, who is wed to UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, was among those present at the awards ceremony. In the distinguished Durbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, she could be seen sitting in the front row close to S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, and Anurag Thakur, along with other dignitaries. Akshata Murty and Mr. Jaishankar were shown together as the national anthem played at the ceremony’s beginning and conclusion.
Sudhar Murty served as the Infosys Foundation’s chairman
Son Rohan Murty, sister Dr. Sunanda Kulkarni, and Sudha Murty’s husband and Infosys founder, NR Narayana Murthy, were all present at the ceremony. Sudhar Murty, a philanthropist and well-known novelist, served as the Infosys Foundation’s chairman until December 2021. Before this incident, in February 2023, Akshata Murty, her two daughters, and her mother Sudha Murty were seen enjoying a vacation at Benaulim Beach in south Goa.

53 recipients received the honour
Additionally present at the event were Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J P Nadda, and a number of Union ministers. On Wednesday, 53 recipients received the honour, 45 Padma Shri, 5 Padma Bhushan, and 3 Padma Vibhushan. The second-highest civilian honour in the nation, the Padma Vibhushan, is presented for exceptionally exemplary service. The Padma Bhushan is given for exceptionally exemplary service, and the Padma Shri is given for exceptionally exemplary service in any subject. According to a PTI report, notable recipients of the Padma awards included veteran socialist leader and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Late Mulayam Singh Yadav, medical expert Dilip Mahalanabis, physicist Deepak Dhar, novelist S L Bhyrappa, Vedic scholar Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, and music director M M Keeravaani.
