Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi: During a late-night joint operation by Delhi Crime Branch and Rajasthan Police, two shooters and one associate who were involved in the murder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi were taken into custody from Chandigarh. Police detained Udham, a third individual, and the two gunmen, Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji. Officials are confirming Udham’s involvement in Gogamedi’s slaying, though.
Interstate Pursuit
Rohit and Udham were brought to Delhi by Delhi Police, while Nitin Fauji is still under the Rajasthan Police’s custody. Police had earlier declared a Rs 5 lakh cash reward for information that resulted in their apprehension. The accused allegedly hid their weapons after the murder and travelled from Rajasthan to Hisar, Haryana. They then travelled to Himachal Pradesh’s Manali. They later went back to Chandigarh, where the arrest took place.
How Police Tracked Down the Gunmen
The police tracked down the gunmen by tracking the locations of their cell phones. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief, Dinesh MN, told India Today TV that the late-night operation had been confirmed. Dinesh MN, the Additional Director General (Crime), who is leading the special investigation team (SIT) that was established to look into the murder, confirmed the news to India Today TV and stated that the arrest will be made on Sunday.
Interrogation Underway
“Their interrogation has already started. They will be arrested tomorrow and will be produced before the court on Monday,” ADG Dinesh told India Today. Unidentified gunmen shot and killed Gogamedi on November 5 inside his Jaipur, Rajasthan, home. Gangster Rohit Godara, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, took credit for Gogamedi’s death in a social media post shortly after it happened. According to the police, during their escape, the gunmen communicated with Godara’s close assistants, Virendra Chahan and Danaram, who gave the order to carry out the murder.
CCTV Footage Analysis
The Jaipur Police had declared earlier in the day that they had arrested another man who was suspected of being a conspirator in the murder of Gogamedi. The police claimed that the accused, Ramveer Jat, had laid the foundation for his friend Fauji in Jaipur prior to the murder. CCTV footage of the Karni Sena chief’s murder showed two men shooting at Gogamedi multiple times while a third man stood at the door. Gogamedi was shot in the head and found unconscious on the ground. Upon arrival at the hospital, medical professionals pronounced him deceased.
Fatal Confrontation
During the gunfight with the police at Gogamedi’s house, Naveen Shekhawat, one of the attackers, was also slain. Statewide demonstrations were sparked by the incident, and Gogamedi’s supporters took to the streets. November 26 was designated as a bandh day. A special investigation team (SIT) led by Additional Director General (Crime) Dinesh MN was formed by the Rajasthan Police to look into the murder that occurred during the state’s regime transition following the Assembly election.
