The Supreme Court has given a big decision on the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme. The Supreme Court directed the states and union territories to implement the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme by July 31.
The Supreme Court has directed the Center to allot food grains to states and union territories to be distributed free of cost among migrant laborers till the status of COVID-19 remains. States have been instructed to make schemes for distribution of food grains to those who do not have ration cards and the Center should arrange food items accordingly. The top court has asked states and union territories to operate community kitchens for migrant laborers till the global pandemic situation continues.
The Supreme Court has also directed the Center to develop a portal by July 31 with the help of NIC for registration of workers in the unorganized sector and giving benefits to them.
Along with this, the court said that the states and union territories should operate community kitchens for migrant laborers till the situation of global epidemic continues. The court said that the state should bring a scheme to provide ration to the migrant workers. The top court also directed the states to register all contractors under the 1979 law.
