Supreme Court Delhi NCR Pollution: The Supreme Court held a hearing on the Delhi-NCR pollution case on Thursday. The petitioner lawyer Vikas Singh said that there is a need to constitute a task force in this matter. So that the directions of the court can be properly followed. He said that the Task Force should be given the powers of Flying Squad, which can take immediate action for violating the instructions. Like to be given the powers to seize. Vikas Singh said that today there is 500 AQI and people are facing problems. The restrictions that have been imposed should be same for all.
After this, the CJI reprimanded the Delhi government for not closing the school. He said that small children are going to school, coming in the newspapers. Employees are getting work from home and children are being sent to school. Then Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who is representing the Delhi government, asked for two minutes’ time, then the CJI said that we are not the opposition. Who unnecessarily criticizes you. We only care about the people. The CJI said that if you do not do anything, then we will have to shut it down.

The Supreme Court told the Delhi government that there is no work other than the slogans of assurance and popularity. If you want to order, we will order. CJI NV Ramana said, we will appoint someone to run your government in the matter of pollution. You tell us that you have implemented Work from Home for adults. That’s why parents work from home and children have to go to school. What is this?
The CJI asked how many flying squads the Delhi government had. How much does the central government have? To this, Singhvi said the multiplicity of flying squads would only add to the confusion. Let me make this clear. There are teams to inspect. There are flying squads of CPCB and Pollution Board. The court said that you people only give arguments and waste time. Then Singhvi said that it is not so. There are many flying squads and we have mentioned in yesterday’s affidavit as well. Apart from this the authorities are working. Justice DY Chandrachud said that there were violations in various sites in UP, Haryana and Delhi, which you have mentioned in the affidavit. The Supreme Court said that the affidavit of the Center and Haryana is the same. Collecting money by imposing fines is not a solution to pollution.
The Solicitor General said that industrial pollution and transport pollution are the main factors of air pollution. CPCB said that there is no polluting industry in Delhi. UP is in Haryana and Punjab is far away. Tushar Mehta said that the industries have been closed. At the same time, Justice Chandrachud said, you have constituted the commission. Today the commission will tell which is the main source of pollution. You have science and data? Justice Chandrachud said whether the vehicles causing pollution and violating the prescribed rules are entering Delhi or not. After this, the SG said that apart from the vehicles carrying essential goods, 10000 vehicles have been diverted.
The Supreme Court has given 24 hours to the Centre, Delhi and state governments to give some concrete proposals on the implementation of pollution control measures. The court said that he will sit for 30 minutes tomorrow at 10 am. If the Center fails to come up with a satisfactory mechanism, it will pass some orders. CJI said that how many members are there in your air quality commission of pollution. SG said there are 16 members. The court said that there is no power to implement the directions. SG said that I will answer on this. The government is working. Everyone is worried and give me time till tomorrow or Monday to reply about the commission. I will answer this only after talking to the minister.
