Udhayanidhi Stalin: The Tamil Nadu government and DMK politician and Minister for Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare Udhayanidhi Stalin received letters from the Supreme Court on Friday about the remark regarding Sanatan Dharma. In response to Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks that Sanatan Dharma was opposed to the concept of social justice and that it needed to be abolished, the state administration and Udhayanidhi Stalin received summons from the supreme court, according to PTI. An FIR should be filed against the CM’s son, according to a Madras-based lawyer’s PIL.
Supreme Court Sends Notices to Multiple Authorities in Response to Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Controversial Remarks
In addition, the Tamil Nadu DGP, Greater Chennai Police Commissioner, Union Home Ministry, Minister for Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowment Department PK Sekar Babu, Chairman of Tamil Nadu State Minorities Commission Peter Alphonse, and others received notice from the Supreme Court, according to ANI. Udhayanidhi compared Sanatan Dharma to mosquito-borne illnesses like the coronavirus, malaria, and dengue fever, saying that rather than opposing such beliefs, they should be exterminated. He also claimed that Sanatan Dharma is opposed to social justice and equality in his speech to the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association. Udhayanidhi said the very name Sanatan is from Sanskrit. “What is the meaning of Sanatan? It is eternal, that is, it cannot be changed; no one could pose any question and that is the meaning.” He claimed that caste was the basis on which Sanatan divided people.
Sanatan Dharma Divides, Eradication Promotes Equality
Udhayanidhi further said on the microblogging site ‘X’, “Sanatan Dharma is a principle that divides people in the name of caste and religion.” According to the DMK leader, eradicating Sanatan Dharma upholds humanity and human equality. A political uproar was caused earlier on September 4 by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s claim that Sanatan Dharma is opposed to social justice and should therefore be eliminated. On Monday, the Tamil Nadu Minister maintained his stubborn position. He said, “Day before yesterday I spoke at a function about it (Sanatana Dharma). Whatever I said, I’ll repeat the same thing again and again…I included all the religions and not just Hindus…I spoke condemning the caste differences that’s all…”
