Tabrez Ansari lynching case: 10 convicts sentenced to 10-year jail

A Jharkhand court on Wednesday sentenced all the 10 convicts in the 2019 Tabrez Ansari lynching case to ten years in prison. Seraikela Court has sentenced the culprits under section 304 of IPC.

ADJ-1 Amit Shekhar’s court sentenced 10 convicts to ten years in the Tabrez mob lynching case in Dhatkidih village of Seraikela in the year 2019. Along with this, a fine of Rs 15,000 has also been imposed on all.

During the hearing in the court, public prosecutor of Seraikela Civil Court Ashok Kumar Rai had recorded the testimony of 36 witnesses.

Earlier, on June 27, the Jharkhand court had convicted these 10 people in the Tabrez Ansari lynching case. Public Prosecutor Ashok Kumar Rai had told that one accused Kaushal Mahali had died during the trial while two accused were acquitted due to lack of evidence.

The 10 people who have been convicted in the Tabrez Ansari mob lynching case. Their names are Bhim Singh Munda, Kamal Mahto, Madan Nayak, Atul Mahali, Sumant Mahto, Vikram Mandal, Chamu Nayak, Premchand Mahali, Mahesh Mahali. He was taken into custody as soon as he was convicted. The main accused in the case Prakash Mandal alias Pappu Mandal is already in judicial custody.

What is the matter?

Tabrez Ansari was beaten to death on 17 June 2019 on charges of theft in Dhatkidih village under Seraikela police station in Jharkhand. Ansari used to work as a laborer in Pune and had come to his home in Jharkhand to celebrate Eid. In this case, an FIR was lodged against 13 accused. In this case, one of the accused has died during the trial.
