YSR Telangana Party leader YS Sharmila was taken into custody by the police during a protest. Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, is accused of assaulting police personnel.
YS Sharmila was stopped by the police on his way to the office of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged leak of questions for state government recruitment exams. According to DCP (Western Zone) Joel Davis, Sharmila was seen attacking police personnel who were trying to stop her from holding a protest without permission.
Joel Davis said, “When we got information about his march towards the SIT office, officials reached his residence as he had not taken prior permission for the protest.” It is clearly visible in the video of the news agency ANI that Sharmila is scuffling with the policemen.
Will take legal action – Police
The DCP said, “The officials had gone to inform her that permission is not granted and to stop her from going there. In the photographs that have surfaced, she is seen attacking the police officials. After receiving the complaint from the officials, we have registered a case against her.”
Wanted to submit memorandum in question paper leak case
Sharmila said that she wanted to go to the SIT office and give a memorandum in the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak case, after knowing about which the police put her under house arrest. Video footage shows an irate Sharmila pushing policemen and attacking the woman police constable, asking the police why they were stopping her.
As she tried to proceed in a vehicle, the police stopped her from proceeding, after which she questioned the police and started arguing with them. Police told that after this she sat on the road. Sharmila, daughter of undivided Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, had earlier demanded a probe into the question paper leak case by the CBI or a sitting judge.
