7. Centre increases the windfall tax on crude oil from Rs. 1,700 to Rs. 2,100

The Central government also increased the windfall tax on ATF from 1.5 rupees per litre to 4.5 rupees per litre and the export duty on fuel from 5 rupees to 7.5 rupees per litre.India, the largest oil consumer and importer in the world, has been purchasing Russian crude barrels for significantly less than the $60 price cap set by the West.
