7. Economists say that inflation might have eased in February, but still above RBI’s target
According to reports, retail inflation in India likely eased slightly last month but remained above the Reserve Bank of India’s upper threshold for the second consecutive month, keeping the central bank on track for further policy tightening. Food price increases, which account for nearly half of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) basket, are likely to have slowed last month. However, the majority of the slowdown was most likely caused by lower international prices and the government’s efforts to provide additional wheat supplies.
8. JLR owner Tata intends to sell a stake in its engineering unit in the India IPO
Tata Technologies Ltd. has applied to India’s markets regulator for permission to conduct an initial public offering in which its parent company, Tata Motors Ltd., and other investors will sell up to 95.7 million shares. According to a filing, the initial sale in the engineering unit of luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover’s owner will comprise a 23.6% stake. Tata Motors is selling up to 81.1 million shares, or 20% of the company. Other investors selling shares in the IPO include Alpha TC Holdings Pte. and Tata Capital Growth Fund I.
