Turkey – Syria Earthquake: Within 12 hours of the disaster on February 6, a shipment of emergency relief material consisting of life-saving medicines and protective items was arranged at Hindon airbase. The shipment comprised 5,945 tons of relief material, including 27 life-saving medicines, two types of protective items, and three categories of critical care equipment. The total value of the shipment was approximately ₹2 crore.
First Shipment Arrives in 12 Hours
Mr. Mandaviya, who led the relief efforts, stated that the first truck carrying the relief material arrived at 10 a.m. on February 7. By 4 p.m. that day, the relief items were being handed over to the Indian Air Force (IAF), and the last truck arrived at 9:30 p.m. A flight departed for Syria with the emergency relief material at 10 p.m. that day. On February 10, a larger shipment of relief material was arranged for both Turkey and Syria. The shipment for Syria included 72 critical care drugs, consumables, and protective items weighing 7.3 tons, valued at ₹1.4 crore. The relief materials sent to Turkey consisted of 14 types of medical and critical care equipment valued at ₹4 crore, including ECG machines, glucometers, thermometers, ventilators, wheelchairs, oxygen masks, syringes, canulas, and paracetamol.
Larger Shipments Arranged for Syria and Turkey
The relief material provided was intended to support emergency efforts following the disaster. The shipment included critical care equipment and medicine, as well as protective items, such as masks, to help those affected by the disaster. The efforts to provide relief material were conducted in a timely and efficient manner, with the first shipment being arranged within 12 hours of the disaster and subsequent shipments arranged shortly thereafter.
