Cheetah: Two of the eight cheetahs that were transported from Namibia to the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh were released to a larger enclosure for additional adaptation on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.
“Great news! Am told that after the mandatory quarantine, 2 cheetahs have been released to a bigger enclosure for further adaptation to the Kuno habitat. Others will be released soon. I’m also glad to know that all cheetahs are healthy, active and adjusting well,” along with a video, Modi tweeted.

Cheetahs in Kuno National Park
On September 17, during a function, the cheetahs were transported from the African nation and released in the Kuno National Park (KNP) in the Sheopur district as part of a programme to repopulate their population in India, seven decades after they were deemed extinct.
The large cats had been confined in quarantine enclosures since they arrived at KNP, and as of November 6, they had been there for 51 days.
The high number of leopards in the refuge has raised concerns from an animal conservationist based in South Africa, but they also noted that the two animals have a history of coexisting there.
