Kupwara Encounter: An attempt at infiltration was thwarted by alert troops along the LOC in the Macchal Sector of Kupwara on Wednesday morning as part of a Joint Operation by the Indian Army, BSF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police. In addition to the killing of two terrorists, 4 AK-47s, 6 hand grenades, and other military-style supplies were also found. Operation is still ongoing, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps told ANI.
Anantnag Firing Incident Prompts Search Operation in J&K
Terrorists opened fire on two outside labourers in Anantnag this morning in a separate incident. After the incident, the two hurt civilians were taken to a hospital. Following treatment, their health status was described as stable. According to J&K Police, the area is still blocked off for a search operation. “Terrorists fired upon two outside labourers in #Anantnag. Both the injured #civilians have been shifted to hospital, where they are stated to be stable. Area being cordoned off for search operation. Further details shall follow,” the Kashmir zone police tweeted.
Security Forces Detain Four LeT Associates in Budgam, Incriminating Materials Seized
Four terrorist affiliates affiliated to the outlawed terrorist group LeT were detained by security authorities earlier on Tuesday in Budgam. It has been determined that Mushtaq Ahmad, Azhar Ahmad Mir, Irfan Ahmad Sofi, and Abrar Ahmad Malik are the four terrorist associates. “Police, along with Army (62 RR) arrested 04 terrorist associates in the Beerwah area of district Budgam. They have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Azhar Ahmad Mir, Irfan Ahmad Sofi and Abrar Ahmad Malik linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT,” read a press release. “Incriminating materials have been recovered from their possession. The officials have taken all the recovered materials into case records for further investigation,” said the release. At Police Station Beerwah, a case has been reported in accordance with the pertinent legal provisions, and an investigation is currently ongoing.
