Udhayanidhi Stalin: Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, following criticism from the BJP regarding his comments on Sanatana Dharma, sparked fresh controversy by referring to the BJP as a “poisonous snake.” These comments were made during a wedding event for DMK MLA Sabha Rajendran in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, on Sunday.
Udhayanidhi Stalin also mocked the opposition AIADMK, describing it as a “garbage that shelters snakes.” Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments followed Lok Sabha MP and DMK deputy general secretary A Raja’s comparison of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a snake.
What did Udhayanidhi Stalin say?
He stated, “If a poisonous snake enters your home, it will not be enough to just throw it away because it may hide in the rubbish near your home. Unless you clear the bushes, the snake will keep returning to your home.” Continuing further, he said, “Now, if we compare this to the current situation, I consider Tamil Nadu as our home, the poisonous snake as the BJP, and the rubbish near our home as the AIADMK. Unless you clear the rubbish, you will not be able to keep the poisonous snake away. To get rid of the BJP, you need to eliminate the AIADMK as well.”
Previously, A Raja had also made similar comments on PM Modi, saying, “Everyone is ready to beat the snake called Modi, but no one has the antidote for snakebite. They all approach with sticks, but they fear being bitten by the snake. No one has a remedy for that.”
Stalin on his comments on ‘Sanatan Dharma’
Udhayanidhi Stalin said that his comments on Sanatana Dharma were misunderstood and misrepresented as advocating for genocide. He said, “My words were twisted and it was falsely claimed that I called for genocide. To be honest, genocide is occurring in Manipur, where the BJP has been ruling for the past five months, with hundreds of people killed.”
