The Centre on Tuesday informed the Supreme Court that Indian medical students who returned from Ukraine will be allowed to clear the MBBS Final, both Part I and Part II. This will be their single chance to appear in examinations without enrolling in any existing medical college. “Students will be given a final chance to clear MBBS part 1 and part 2 without enrolling in any existing medical colleges,” the Centre told the apex court.
Students to appear in exams as per NMC syllabus
The Centre further said that students who clear the two examinations will have to complete two years of compulsory rotatory internship with one year being free and other being paid. The decision has been taken by National Medical Commission’s special committee formed by the Centre. The theory exam will be based on the Indian MBBS exam syllabus, while practicals will be held in some designated government colleges.
“The students may be offered a single chance to clear the MBBS Final, both Part I and II Examinations (Both Theory and Practical) as per existing NMC Syllabus and guidelines without being enrolled in any of the existing Indian Medical Colleges. They can give and clear the examinations within a period of one year. Part I, followed by Part ii, after one year. Part II will be allowed only after Part I is cleared,” the Centre told the court.

Strictly one time opportunity
This will be strictly only one time opportunity for students whose studies were disrupted during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Centre said. This will not become a similar decision in the future and the scheme shall only be applicable to the matter of current time, it maintained.
