Al-Qaeda, the terrorist organization that was involved in promoting religious terrorism around the world, may not be carrying out terrorist attacks anymore, but its threat has neither ended from the world nor from India. This organization is still calm, but it has an eye on many other parts of the Indian subcontinent including the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India and inside it is busy in carrying out its preparations. This has been said in a new report of the United Nations.
Al Qaeda engaged in strengthening itself
According to this, Al Qaeda (AQIS) has 200 terrorists in the Indian subcontinent and Osama Mehmood is their emir. This annual report on the activities of Al-Qaeda and Islamic State has been released by the United Nations Security Council only on July 25, 2023. It has been said in the report that regarding Al-Qaeda, a member country has said that this organization is busy in strengthening AQIS.
In particular, it is trying to establish roots in Bangladesh, India’s Jammu and Kashmir state and Myanmar. This member has also told that AQIS may become a member of ISIL-K (Islamic Organization-Khorasan-Part of ISIS for Central and South Asia) or may align with it in the coming days.
Indian intelligence agencies also expressed concern
AQIS can have up to 200 members. This number is much more than the active terrorists of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. It should be noted that a few years back, Al-Qaeda and ISIS tried to gain a quick hold in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Big posters of both these organizations were seen in many areas of terror-affected Kashmir and Indian intelligence agencies were concerned about their increasing activities.
