The suspension of two IPS officers, including the former Kanpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anant Deo, who was found guilty by an SIT of having an alleged connection to murdered gangster Vikas Dubey, was revoked by the Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday.
The former Ghaziabad Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar’s suspension, which had been imposed in April of this year due to allegations of corruption, negligence, and failure to control crime, was also lifted.
Deo, an IPS officer from the 2006 batch, was placed on administrative leave in November 2020 after the government received a 3,000-page report from the three-member SIT led by Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Bhoosreddy. The SIT is said to have found Deo guilty on several counts.
