The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday issued guidelines ahead of the Holi celebrations amid the covid surge that has been witnessed in the country over last one month.
As per the guidelines, issued by chief secretary R.K. Tiwari on Tuesday, anyone who is organizing a public event will have to taken permission from the concerned authorities.
Even after obtaining permission, the organizers will have to maintain covid appropriate behaviour such as maintaining distancing and following other safety protocols. The number of people attending the event should also be restricted.
The guidelines further stated that people above 60 years, children below 10 years and those having comorbidities, should remain inside their homes on the day of the festivity.
Additionally, persons who are coming from states that have a high virus surge, will have to undergo mandatory Covid tests upon their arrival in the state.
Dedicated Covid hospitals will continue to remain operational in every district and tracking even on the day of the event, testing and treatment will be aggressively pursued. As the current surge in number of cases that have been feared as the second wave of the deadly infection continues to pose as threat, covid-19 help desk are also being revived in the state.
Moreover, everyone in the state will be urged through the public address systems to continue following safety protocols.
Inmates of all jails in the state will be subjected to Covid tests if they have ventured out of the prison for the festive season.
