Arunachal Pradesh: After China renamed 11 locations in Arunachal Pradesh that it believes are in South Tibet, the United States objected. The White House issued a statement in which it acknowledged that Arunachal Pradesh is an essential component of India and vehemently opposed any unilateral moves to advance territorial claims through renaming towns.
China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs announced the 11 locations’ official names
Tuesday saw the Chinese naming of 11 more locations in Arunachal Pradesh, which the neighbouring nation claims to be the southernmost portion of Tibet. China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs on Sunday announced the 11 locations’ official names. Mountain summits, rivers, and residential areas all have new names. China has unilaterally renamed locations in Arunachal Pradesh three times, most recently in December 2021 and in April 2017.
State is a fundamental component of India-MEA
“For a very long period, the United States has recognised that region (Arunachal Pradesh) as an integral part of India. Also, we vehemently reject any unilateral initiatives to renamify areas in order to promote territorial claims, according to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Tuesday. “Again, we have long supported this, Jean-Pierre said to the media during her daily news conference. India, in response to China’s accusations, flatly rejected Beijing’s decision to rename some locations in Arunachal Pradesh. Assigning “created” titles does not change the fact that the state is a fundamental component of India, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA). We are aware of these reports. China has already made attempts of this nature. We categorically reject this,” MEA spokesman Arindam Bagchi said.

The attempt to give fabricated names won’t change the truth-MEA spokesman
“Arunachal Pradesh is, has always been, and always will be, a fundamental and unassailable component of India. The attempt to give fabricated names won’t change the truth, Arindam said. It was the third set of standardised geographic names for Arunachal Pradesh that had been released by the Chinese ministry of civil affairs. The localities in Arunachal Pradesh that China has renamed do so at a time when both nations are embroiled in a border dispute in eastern Ladakh that started in May 2020. India increased its total military readiness following the standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Arunachal Pradesh region.
