Uttar Pradesh CM inaugurates north India’s first data centre at Greater Noida

The first hyper-scale data centre in North India, Yotta Yotta D1, which cost Rs 5,000 crore and covered a space of 3,00,000 square feet, was officially opened on Monday by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the planned Data Center Park in Greater Noida.

According to the official announcement, Memorandums of Understanding worth Rs 39,000 crore were also signed on this occasion between the Yogi Government and the Hiranandani Group to be used for projects over the following five years.

“I am delighted to see the opening of North India’s first data centre, which gives momentum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India movement, in Greater Noida today. The data centre will increase the data storage capacity of the country, which until now stood at two percent only even though 1.5 billion mobile phones and 650 million internet users in the world are from India using 20 percent of data. Yet for storage of data, we had to look for centres abroad,” said CM Yogi Adityanath.

To achieve Prime Minister Modi’s aim of self-reliance and turn India into a $5 trillion economy, Yogi added that the talented youth of India will play a vital role which has been instrumental in bringing about the digital revolution around the globe.

We set a target of 250 MW of storage capacity by 2026 with an investment of Rs 20,000 crore. And today I am happy to share that this target has been achieved in the very first year of the policy. Today, proposals of 600 MW have been received from many investors in the country and abroad,” he added.
