Uttar Pradesh: According to Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Agra Dr. Arun Kumar Srivastava, a visitor from Argentina who had travelled to see the Taj Mahal and tested positive for COVID-19 on December 26 has vanished.
Samples from the visitor were taken during screening at the Taj Mahal, and after testing positive for an antigen, he was denied access to the monument’s grounds.
According to Dr. Srivastava, the foreign visitor gave the authorities and police the wrong contact information, and he is currently being located.
“One international tourist who had come to visit the Taj Mahal tested positive Covid on December 26. On testing positive in the antigen test, he was not allowed to enter the monument premises. He gave us the wrong contact details. We are trying to trace him with the help of local authorities, police, ASI and nearby hotels to get details of the missing man,” explained he.
At the Taj Mahal on December 25, a man who had just returned from China was discovered to be positive for COVID-19.
“A corona patient has also been found in Agra who returned from China a few days back. The sample has been sent to Lucknow for genome sequencing. Genome sequencing is important because he came from China. He landed on December 22 in India and on December 23 he reached Agra. We are trying to trace his contacts. The person has not come in contact with many people as he was in his room most of the time since his arrival,” said Dr. Srivastava.
An alert has been issued in India as well due to the COVID-19 outbreak that has spread to various nations, including China.

Following the Center’s instructions, testing has increased at the Agra airport, bus stops, and train station.
Health officials in Agra have started checking visitors to the Taj Mahal and other landmarks, with a particular emphasis on foreign visitors.
The Taj Mahal in Agra attracts a sizable number of visitors from both inside and outside the country every day. In light of the circumstance, they will have to do a Covid test before their arrival, according to the official sources.
The District Health Information Officer for Agra, Anil Satsangi, had stated, “The health department has already started the tests to prevent the spread of infection. As the alert is on, the tests have now been made mandatory for all the visitors.”
In 400 specialised hospitals distributed across 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, mock drills were held with the goal of assuring the availability of ventilators, medications, and oxygen.
