Uttarakhand has become the first state to process the implementing the Centre’s New Education Policy as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated ‘Bal Vatikas’ at anganwadi kendras across the state to strengthen the pre-primary education system.
The ‘Bal Vatikas’ will function at 4,457 anganwadi kendras in the state and will be equivalent to the nursery classes at a private school.
Dhami said that the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) will mark the beginning of culture-based education in India.
“The NEP will lay the foundation of a strong and bright future of youngsters,” he said.
Mr Dhami, who also laid the foundation stone of a NCERT building here, said all the projects whose foundation stones are being laid during his tenure will be completed.
“No project will be left hanging. We will ensure that every project whose foundation stone is being laid sees the light of day,” said the Uttarakhand CM.
Uttarakhand Education Minister Dhan Singh said the NEP replaces the Macaulay system of education which was followed in the country for decades.
“It offers children an opportunity to pursue choice-based education. They can now study the subjects of their choice in the language they are conversant with,” Mr Rawat said.
