Vande Bharat Metro: In a significant development for rail transportation, India is set to receive its first Vande Bharat Metro, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to flag off the service on September 16, 2024. The inaugural route will run between Bhuj and Ahmedabad in Gujarat, providing a major boost to daily commuters traveling between the two cities. The train will operate six days a week, offering a faster and more convenient travel option for thousands of passengers.
Train Timings and Stops
The Vande Bharat Metro will depart from Bhuj station at 5:05 am and reach Ahmedabad at 10:50 am, covering the journey in 5 hours and 45 minutes. On the return journey, the train will leave Ahmedabad at 5:30 pm and arrive in Bhuj at 11:10 pm. Along the route, there will be nine stations, with the train making an average two-minute stop at each.
This new service is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve the commuting experience for passengers. It is designed to cater to the needs of daily commuters, and similar metro services are planned to launch between other cities in the near future.
Fare Structure
The minimum fare for passengers has been set at Rs 30. For regular commuters, weekly, fortnightly, and monthly season tickets will be available at Rs 7, 15, and 20 per journey, respectively. This affordable fare structure is aimed at making travel more accessible and economical for daily travelers.
