Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar addressed the 19th ASEAN-India Summit in Cambodia on Saturday (November 12). After which India and ASEAN countries resolved to forge a comprehensive strategic partnership against terrorism and enhance cooperation. Dhankhar is on a three-day visit to Cambodia. This year marks the 30th anniversary of ASEAN-India relations and is being celebrated as the ASEAN-India Friendship Year.

India-ASEAN emphasized on strengthening cooperation on cyber security by establishing a dialogue platform between the two sides. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is an international organization consisting of 10 South East Asian countries, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
In a joint statement, Jagdeep Dhankhar lauded the deep civilizational links, maritime links and cultural ties between South East Asia and India, which have strengthened over the last 30 years and become a solid foundation for ASEAN-India relations. Vice President is on a visit to Cambodia from 11-13 November.

Before addressing the conference, Vice President Dhankhar discussed ways to further deepen bilateral ties in areas such as human resources, landmine removal and development projects with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen. In a joint statement, India and ASEAN countries announced to enhance cooperation in digital economy through various regional skill building activities in digital transformation, digital business, digital skills and innovation.
“We will explore options to enhance cooperation under the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) and India’s Smart Cities Mission by collaborating on best practices and capacity building to help build such cities,” the joint statement said.
Vice President to attend East Asia Summit on November 13, Vice President Dhankhar will attend the 17th East Asia Summit, in which the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its eight dialogue partners India, China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the US and Russia. Leaders at the East Asia Summit will discuss national and international issues, including maritime security, terrorism and disarmament, as well as ways to further strengthen the East Asia Summit mechanism.
