Viral Photo: Do you share the opinion that beauty pageants are anti-feminist? Then you’ll undoubtedly be shocked by this Bathinda advertisement for a beauty pageant in Punjab. The post, which was shared on Twitter by Bathinda Police’s official account, features a flyer outlining the requirements for a beauty pageant.
“Objectionable posters were pasted in some parts of Bathinda city and were also circulating on social media in which indecent words were written against women,” read the caption.
In Bathinda’s Ajeet Road neighbourhood, flyers for the contest were posted. “Sunder Ladkiyon ka Mukabla” (contest for the most beautiful girls) was advertised on posters with the restriction that participants must only be from upper castes. The poster also stated that the winner would have the opportunity to wed a Canadian citizen of a higher caste.
The organisers of the pageant that was scheduled to take place on October 23 have been the subject of a FIR.

The organisers are probably from Australia, which is interesting because they shared three Australian contact numbers on the poster.
The post has garnered a lot of attention on Twitter as many users have criticised the peculiar obsession of people who are eager to have their daughters wed an NRI groom.
