Viral Video: After a video of one of IndiGo’s engines catching fire on Friday night, just as the plane was about to take off for Bengaluru, the Delhi airport grounded the aircraft. According to the Delhi Police, all individuals on board IndiGo flight 6E-2131 are safe. As per the sources, The Airbus A-320 was carrying 184 passengers.
Passengers weren’t immediately evacuated after the incident, which happened about 9:45 p.m. After the plane’s departure after 11 p.m., the passengers were accommodated on a different aircraft that left about midnight. The event was captured in a video released on Twitter by one of the passengers, Priyanka Kumar, which showed one of the engines on fire and shooting sparks.
According to the footage, the fire extinguished quickly. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) preliminary investigation, the pilot extinguished the fire in the engine. A thorough investigation of the incident will be conducted, according to the DGCA, and appropriate action will be taken.
“On 28-10-2022 indigo A320-Ceo aircraft VT-IFM operating flight 6E-2131 (Delhi-Bangalore) was involved in reject takeoff as Engine 2 Fail warning came. Loud bang was heard. Fire extinguisher bottle was discharged. Aircraft returned to bay. It has been grounded for inspection,” the DGCA said.
“The flight would have taken off in five to seven seconds. Suddenly, I saw massive sparks coming off the wings, and it turned into a major fire. And the plane was stopped immediately. The pilot informed us there was some malfunction with the engine,” Priyanka said.
