Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will protest across the country against same sex marriage. According to VHP, gay marriage is against Indian culture. On Monday also a VHP protest against same sex marriage was witnessed in Tripura’s Agartala. Hearing is going on in the Supreme Court regarding various petitions regarding giving legal recognition to Same Sex Marriage.
Meanwhile, a big statement of VHP Tripura President Mahendrapal Singh has come to the fore. He has said that protests will be organized across the country against the petition of the Supreme Court. This petition is against Sanatan Dharma. According to him, the Hindu Marriage Act 1954 is very sacred, it should not be changed under any circumstances. This will cause great harm to the religion. VHP Tripura told that all the saints and educated society have expressed strong displeasure against the same sex marriage.
A five-member bench is hearing the matter
A five-member constitution bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice SK Kaul, Justice Hima Kohlis, Justice PS Narasimha and Justice SR Bhat is hearing the matter.
Next hearing will be on May 3
The Constitution Bench had heard the matter on 18 April. The Central Government is continuously opposing the petition to give legal recognition to Same Sex Marriage. The Supreme Court, while hearing the case, had said that of course you should not give legal recognition to gay marriage, but you must give some name to their relationship. The next hearing in this matter will be held tomorrow that is on May 3.
