Vistara Grapples with Pilot Shortage, Faces Ministry Scrutiny

Vistara Airlines

Vistara Airlines: According to ANI on Tuesday, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has requested a comprehensive report from Vistara about the cancellation and delay of more than 100 flights in the previous week.

Ministry Inquiry into Flight Disruptions

“Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) sought a detailed report from Vistara regarding flight cancellations and major delays, with the airline having cancelled or delayed over 100 flights in the past week,” said the news agency.

The full-service airline is apparently planning to temporarily curtail flight operations as a result of a pilot shortage, which led to the cancellation of about 50 flights on Monday and may rise to 70 on Tuesday, according to a report by news agency PTI.

Personnel Shortage Crisis

According to the PTI story, the airline has been experiencing a shortage of first officers for its A320 flight crew. These officers have been reporting sick for the past few weeks in protest of changes to their pay brought about by new contracts.

A Vistara representative acknowledged the difficulties the airline was facing and stated that a considerable amount of flight cancellations and delays in the last several days were due to a variety of factors, including personnel shortages.

Temporary Flight Reduction

In a statement, the spokesperson said, “We have decided to temporarily reduce the number of flights we operate to ensure adequate connectivity across our network.” The spokesman went on to say that the teams were attempting to minimise the clients’ pain.

“We have decided to temporarily reduce the number of flights we operate, to ensure adequate connectivity across our network,” the spokesperson said.  The airline has expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the disruption of flights, although it has not disclosed the precise number of cancelled flights.
